I am somewhat disappointed that aapl did not buy audible. But my reasons are a little different.
Audibles idea of getting books to you was to nurden you with signing up do so, installing frappy DRM software on your machine, only to be able to de-DRM it if uo wanted. As opposed to the Aapl metuod which just run it all through iTunes. No additional sign up, just click and buy.
With Amazons MP3 service which I think looks really good at the moment, I think that aapl has to worry whether AMZN is finding the right ingredients to really take on iTunes. The user experience on Amazon is not bad and if they tie this into AmazonMP3, as seemlessly as iTunes does, they may just decide to exclude iTunes altogether. Certainly a cause for concern.
Cioncidentally, II tried on monday and wonxered if they were going to have audiobooks available too.
